Kinderkraft cruiser LX stroller review

I purchased the kinderkraft cruiser LX stroller as my pram had recently broke and needed a new one as soon as. I saw the kinderkraft cruiser LX pram and I loved what I saw, I looked at other prams but the one I knew I really liked was the kinderkraft so I purchased it.

Delivery was quite quick, when I unboxed the pram I noticed a few little marks on the hood fabric and shoulder pads, I gave it a little wipe down, so marks down for that.

The pram was pretty easy to assemble and I had it up and ready within 10 minutes. It came with a raincover, foot muff, cup holder (I was very excited about the cup holder!) and tray.

Once it was up and I was satisfied that everything was in order I took it out for a quick stroll around the block. I gave my daughter some snacks for our walk and put them on the tray. My daughter looked quite comfortable in the seat although I wish the seat was a bit more upright as my daughter had to lean forward to get to her snacks. The handle I also thought was a little high, I’m 5ft 1 and the handle was up right by my chest however wasn’t too uncomfortable. pushing it was quite smooth, my daughter seemed happy enough in it, we also went over a lot of uneven ground and the pram seemed to do well with that too.

Kinderkraft claim this pram is suitable from newborn but I wouldn’t feel comfortable putting a new born in this pram, I’d say this pram is more suitable for an older baby 6 months +. This pram has a weight limit of 15kg so if you have a heavy baby this pram would be quickly outgrown. My daughter is quite a small and petite 1 year old so I’m hopeful we’ll get a good few months out of this pram yet.

Overall I’d recommend this pram to others but would not recommend it for a newborn. I rate this pram 8 out of 10.

Dentinox colic drops review

*please note all products that I review are fully paid for by me. I am not in any contract or sponsored by the company. All opinions are my own.*

As a newborn Violet suffered with colic. I tried everything, wonky winding, bicycle legs, cooled boiled water, winding in between feeds, nothing seemed to help her. My health visitor suggested trying some colic drops.

I tried infacol, this didn’t work for us, then we gave gripe water a go, I would NOT recommend gripe water, Violet ended up choking on this. The one that really helped violet was the dentinox colic drops, they are great value at just £2.30 for 100ml in Asda it was worth a try.

Dentinox colic drops comes with a 2.5ml syringe. There are 2 methods in which you can administer the drops, you can give 2.5ml after the feed or you can put 2.5ml in the bottle. I put it in the bottle as that was the easiest way for me. Please note you should not give more then 6 doses per day.

Dentinox colic drops really helped Violet bring up her wind. I saw a massive difference in her within just a few days, she was much more comfortable and the endless crying stopped. I was so relieved, it was honestly so hard seeing Violet in all that pain before.

Symptoms of colic: crying for more then 3 hours a day, 3 days a week for at least 1 week, it is hard to soothe your baby, clenched fists, they go red in the face, they bring their knees up to their tummy or arch their back. Contact your GP if your baby still seems to have symptoms of colic by 4 months old. (Taken from NHS website)

10/10 I would highly recommend this product.

Tesco Fred and flow super dry nappies size 4+ review

In a bid to save money I thought I’d try out a different nappy brand. We were using pampers active fit but started to find that they would dig into violets legs leaving red marks, as she’s only 18lb 3oz she is not quite ready for a size 5 yet so we decided to try tescos Fred and flow super dry nappies in size 4+. I always thought 4+ was the size in between a 4 and a 5 but to my surprise it just means the nappy is more absorbent.

First thoughts – the nappy design is cute, the nappies feel a little thinner compared to pampers but the inside feels about the same as pampers so not rough. Much better value then pampers, I got a jumbo pack of 78 nappies for £4.75, that works out around 6p per nappy.

I put Violet into the Fred and flow nappy, they seemed to fit better around her legs, when she required another change I didn’t notice any red marks around her legs, so thumbs up for that!

The ultimate test – Tonight I decided to put the Fred and Flo nappies to the ultimate test and see how they are at night. Violet sleeps though the night now and always wakes up with a full nappy, we’ve never had a leak with pampers but Violet does now wake up feeling a little damp. Fingers crossed for a good result!

The ultimate test results – we had no leaks! Violet didn’t even wake up with nappy rash either and for once her clothes did not feel damp. The extra absorbency on these nappies really do make a difference.

I rate these nappies 9 out of 10 and would recommend them.

Back to work was a mistake

Last week I started a new part time job, what it meant to me was that I’d get a break from being mummy 24/7 and I’d also be able to give Violet more. I would give her the world if I could. Sadly it didn’t work out and I’ve already resigned.

My sister was babysitting Violet for me whilst I worked but sadly this arrangement broke down. I guess it was for the best I suppose, my heart knew I wanted to be at home.

Going back to working life was a huge mistake. I don’t regret resigning either. Being a mum is honestly the most important job ever, they grow up so fast and you’ll never get the years back.

I love my job. I love being a mum no matter how hard it gets.

Leo’s story

Leo is my first born, he was born prematurely at 29 weeks, I had suffered with severe pre-eclampsia. I had a relatively smooth start of pregnancy with Leo up until 15 weeks when I begun feeling unwell, my hands were also very swollen, I couldn’t wear any rings, I also started getting headaches that wouldn’t go away despite taking paracetamol, I decided to take myself to see my gp as my maternity assessment unit at the hospital won’t see anyone before 20 weeks, I explained my symptoms to my gp, he assured me that my symptoms were normal during pregnancy and that I should take it easy. I still didn’t feel right, I had an appointment at 16 weeks with my midwife, she tested my urine and I had protein in it, she said it looked like I had a urine infection and that she send my urine off for testing. Finally, the day came for my 20 week scan! “It’s a boy!” The sonographer said, me and my partner were overjoyed, we picked the name Leo that very same day. A few days later I had my first appointment with my consultant at the hospital, I explained what symptoms I had been experiencing and he told me it’s all normal, I’d got to 25 weeks and I still didn’t feel right, I took myself to the maternity assessment unit and finally found a doctor who listened to my concerns, they ran some tests and sent me home, a week later I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and was immediately admitted into hospital. I stayed in hospital for 4 weeks. By 29 weeks my pre-eclampsia was worsening and Leo wasn’t growing, they decided to deliver.

I had an emergency c section under general anaesthetic. Leo weighed a tiny 1lb 11oz, he was taken straight to nicu. Nicu was overwhelming at first but after a few days I got used to it all. We had 17 very beautiful days with Leo. Sadly Leo became really unwell and was put on life support, Leo was just too weak to fight anymore and I hated seeing him in so much pain. As much as it broke my heart I decided to withdraw Leo’s care and let him go. We spent some time as a family making memories, the time came for the doctor to take Leo’s breathing tube out, my world shattered at that very moment. I spent Leo’s last moments telling him how much I loved him and how I wished he could’ve stayed.

I will forever be thankful to the nicu staff for giving us 17 beautiful days with Leo.
